GE14 | Badminton ace Lee Chong Wei made an appearance in Bentong, Pahang, this morning with MCA president Liow Tiong Lai.
Liow is the incumbent Bentong MP, who won the seat with a narrow margin of 379 votes against environmentalist Wong Tack, who stood under DAP's ticket.
The two would lock horns again on May 9.
Meanwhile, Lee and Liow officiated a refurbished Bentong Youth Club badminton hall before the badminton ace took part in an exhibition doubles game.
The event was not explicitly a vote canvassing event for Liow, who did not appear in party colours.
Liow's carefully worded speech did not mention BN but contained the coalition's slogan "Hebatkan Negaraku" (Make my country great).
Instead, the MCA president spoke about the need for further development of sports in Bentong and expressed his appreciation for Lee's presence.
This is not the first time Lee has been spotted close to the campaign trail.
In 2013, he played an exhibition game against then BN candidate for Gopeng Ling Hee Leong.
Lee's friendship with Hee Leong's parents is well documented. Hee Leong's father, Ling Liong Sik, is a former MCA president. --Mkini
