Selangor DAP has urged the Pakatan Harapan leadership to consult component parties on the appointment of the new Selangor menteri besar.
In a statement today, state DAP secretary Ean Yong Hian Wah said candidates for the position must undergo strict vetting.
"The candidate must fulfil (certain) requirements and receive the support of component parties," he added.
Azmin Ali will soon be stepping down as Selangor menteri besar because he has been appointed to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's cabinet.
Azmin will be taking up the economy portfolio. He will be sworn in today.
The Selangor palace has agreed to this arrangement and is studying the candidates which have been nominated to replace Azmin.
Ean Yong, who has served in Azmin's previous state cabinet, said the new menteri besar must uphold Harapan's ideals, goals and people-centric policies to ensure that Selangor remains a model state for Malaysia.
He added that the incoming Selangor menteri besar will have a large shoe to fill. -Mkini
