SUBANG JAYA— There is no flight record to show former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor have left the country, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohd Zani Che Din said today.
The Petaling Jaya district police chief also denied that a flight booking as reported in the media existed.
“For now, there is no flight as suggested by the viralled (sic) social media post.
“We urge everybody to disperse from this place if they do not have any business here as it is still a security area,” he told reporters outside the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport here.
“What I’m talking about is the situation currently. If he comes at whatever other time, then he does,” Mohd Zani replied when asked if the flight was delayed.
The beleaguered Najib, hounded by allegations of fund misappropriation from sovereign investment fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad, and Rosmah were previously reported to be scheduled to fly out of the airport here on board a private jet for Jakarta, Indonesia at 10am today.
Najib lent credence to news about the flight when he later tweeted and Facebooked that he would be taking a “short break” abroad to spend time with his family.
He also said he will return next week and would announce his decision about his position as president of Umno and chairman of the Barisan Nasional, which is now on the federal Opposition side for the first time since its establishment over six decades ago.
