After receiving a barrage of comments on social media about his new portfolio, Education Minister Maszlee Malik's team has set up an online form to solicit public feedback on ways to improve the education system.
“Since there are so many suggestions being shared on comments and messages on Maszlee's Facebook, we have started an initiative to make it easier for the public to voice their suggestions or issues,” read a posting on the minister's Facebook page today.
The Google form allows the public to record their complaints and suggestions, which will be collated for the minister.
After hitting a speed bump during his initial unveiling as the education minister in Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's new cabinet, Maszlee has voiced aspirations on improving the existing system through consultation.
“I am not here to impose regimentation or rulings on schools.
“Whatever school streams that we have, my vision is to try and connect them, to bridge them with one another.
“We want to celebrate our differences, we want to make it as a strength rather than as a weakness, and make it a unifying factor rather than a dividing factor,” Maszlee earlier told Malaysiakini in an interview after his appointment. -Mkini
