PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang told Pakatan Harapan today that fulfilling election promises are harder than winning elections.
While congratulating Harapan for ousting BN, Hadi said their task at hand – saving Malaysia – was not the biggest priority.
"The peoples aspirations is higher than what Harapan – which contains political parties with different ideologies – envisaged.
"Do not let the rakyat become political victims after the elections, whether they support or do not support the government, or voted for you or not," he said in a statement today.
Hadi noted that the bumiputera community were still lagging behind other ethnic groups, and the government has to recognise minority rights.
"We have to be fair to all," he said.
The Marang MP added that Harapan must not have the same attitude towards state government as the past BN administration because the political dynamics have now changed.
Currently, apart from Harapan, there are four other factions running state governments – BN in Perlis and Pahang, the PBB-led coalition in Sarawak, the Parti Warisan Sabah-led coalition in Sabah, and PAS itself, which rules Kelantan and Terengganu.
Hadi said that the people's aspirations over morality, the economy, education and security were paramount.
"Whoever is leading the government, they have to ensure that the country's revenue and assets are properly managed." -Mkini
