Gerakan condemns video of BN leaders being cursed in temple

Gerakan vice-president Dominic Lau says it is not Malaysian culture to insult leaders and exploit religion for political gain.

KUALA LUMPUR: Gerakan today strongly condemned a campaign video being circulated on social media showing a group of people praying in a temple while cursing several prominent Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders from Gerakan, MCA and MIC.

Gerakan vice-president Dominic Lau, in a statement here today, said this was deliberate defamation of BN leaders, linking them to various issues mentioned in the video.

“It is not our culture to defame and insult leaders, worse still by exploiting religion and religious beliefs among Malaysians for political gain, especially during the campaign period for the 14th general election.

“We call on all Malaysians to condemn and reject such an outrageous video.

“Politics is never a zero-sum game at the expense of our social norms, values and beliefs.”

Lau said the party would make a police report on the matter. -FMT
