Harapan wins Kedah, one seat shy of simple majority

Harapan has won the Kedah state assembly but is one seat shy of forming a simple majority. It currently has 18 seats.

PAS has 15 seats, while BN only three. If BN and PAS join forces this will result in a hung assembly.

If a hung assembly occurs, then it is the Sultan of Kedah's prerogative to decide who becomes menteri besar. However, by convention, the sultan will choose a representative from the party with the most seats. -Mkini
