Home ministry monitoring videos, fake news: Nur Jazlan

GE14 | The Home Ministry is constantly monitoring videos or news to ensure they do not breach provisions in the Anti-Fake News Act 2018.
Caretaker Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed said this was to avoid the people from being influenced by fake news when making their decision on polling day on May 9.
“Take the example of the alleged presence of Bangladeshis at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) recently who were said to be wearing Barisan Nasional (BN) hats and are here to vote in the 14th General Election (GE14).
“This is a cause for concern because May 9 (polling day) is a very important day for the country and people should not be lured and fooled with all these dirty tactics (fake news),” he told reporters after visiting the early polling stations at Region 2 Marine Police in Tampoi yesterday.
Nur Jazlan, who is also the BN candidate defending the Pulaiparliamentary seat, said that under the Act, any form of dissemination of fake news either by the opposition or the government would be thoroughly investigated to ensure its legitimacy.
Nur Jazlan is involved in a four-cornered fight for the Pulai parliamentary seat with  Mohd Nazri Yahya, of PAS, Salahuddin Ayub (PKR-Amanah) and Yap Keng Tak (Independent).
He won the seat with a majority of 3,226 votes in GE13.
