‘INDEED ALLAH IS WITH THE PATIENT’: DISGRACED NAJIB TURNS TO RELIGION THE NIGHT BEFORE FACING MACC EVEN AS HIS LAWYERS BAIL OUT ON HIM

KUALA LUMPUR – On the night before Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to go to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) office to give his statement, a van ferrying students from the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah religious school was seen entering his residence at Jalan Langgak Duta here.
About a dozen students are believed to have came to visit the former prime minister.
The school hit the headlines last year after an arson attack killed 21 students and two teachers.
Najib has previously told the media that he frequently host the school’s students at his home for prayers and other functions.
He also posted a Quranic verse encouraging patience on his social media pages.
“And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and thus lose courage and your strength would depart, and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient,” read verse 46 of the Surah Al-Anfal from the Quran, posted by Najib.
The former prime minister is expected to give his statement on SRC International, which the MACC is investigating.
SRC International is a subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), which has been accused of transferring millions of ringgit into the private accounts of Najib. – ANN

Najib’s lawyers quits hours before MACC questioning

Harpal Singh Grewal has quit as Najib Abdul Razak’s lawyer, hours before the former prime minister was slated to be questioned by the MACC.
Harpal confirmed that he had withdrawn as Najib’s lawyer after a meeting at his client’s home in Taman Duta last night, according to Berita Harian.
“Yes, I confirm that I have withdrawn as Najib’s legal representative.
“Apart from that, my partner M Athimulan has also withdrawn,” he was quoted as saying.
Harpal said the duo withdrew on their own free will and were not fired by Najib.
The report said former solicitor-general Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden’s legal team will take over Najib’s case.
Najib was summoned by the MACC for his statement to be recorded at 10am today.
He could be charged under the MACC Act 2009 if he fails to turn up at the agency headquarters in Putrajaya.
The MACC previously investigated Najib over the multi-billion ringgit deposits in his personal bank accounts as well as funds from SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former 1MDB subsidiary.
The investigation was scuttled but had been reinitiated after Dr Mahathir Mohamad took over as prime minister under the new Pakatan Harapan government.
Former MACC deputy chief commissioner Mohd Sukhri Abdull, who was involved in the initial investigation and later entered into early retirement, was also recalled to lead the commission. – M’kini
