Jamal undeterred by police report, to give out Merc in next do

GE14 | Sungai Besar Umno division head Jamal Md Yunos is undeterred by the police report lodged against him for "vote buying", and said will give out a Mercedes Benz C200 as the grand prize in his next "concert".
Speaking to a press conference in Sekinchan today, Jamal said no time and venue had been set for the "third" concert before the 14th general election (GE14) on May 9, but a sponsor has already been secured.
"I'm not sure whether it will be held in Sungai Besar or Sekinchan.
"I don't dare announce the time and place as there is yet to be a formal letter from the sponsor, but the grand prize will be a Mercedes Benz C Class C200," he said.
On Monday, BN feted Sekinchan folk to a free concert, free food, a chance to win a motorcycle, and RM25,000 in cash, in its bid to wrest the fishing village from DAP.
Jamal had also earlier on that day, promised fisherfolk in the town, RM2,000 each if BN wins the seat.
Irked by this, a DAP member lodged a police report yesterday, claiming the action was tantamount to vote buying.
Today, Jamal said he is not ruffled by the police report against him, as he was confident the authorities would act against him if he had committed an offence.
"Let them (critics) lodge 1,000, or 2,000 reports, I have no issues (with that).
"What is important to me is that getting to know voters with (BN's) candidates.
"There is not even 10 sen from the candidate, from BN, Umno or other BN component parties (given out to voters). It is all from sponsors," he claimed.
On the RM2,000 allocation for fisherfolk, Jamal claimed it comes from 13 "successful" companies owned by fishermen, who wished to thank BN for helping them out.
Jamal also dared opposition candidates to come to his "concerts", as it's a "democratic country".
"But they have to take the risk, as the thousands who are present will be BN supporters," he said. - Mkini
