Jeffrey claims Sabah BN leaders to ditch BN and ‘go local’

GE14 | Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) president Jeffrey Kitingan has claimed that Sabah BN leaders will be leaving BN.
This, he said, as quoted in a statement posted on his Facebook page today, is because the “Umno/BN era is over”.
Jeffrey earlier today confirmed that his party will cooperate with BN in Sabah.
He, however, assured that he was not joining BN.
“I have talked with the (caretaker) Sabah chief minister Musa Aman to find the best political solution for the good of the people of Sabah.
“And the agreement is that we will form a coalition of local (Sabah) parties without Umno.”
The arrangement, he said, was the best solution as Sabah will then be totally independent from any control from peninsula-based parties.
Jeffrey, meanwhile, also revealed that PKR had offered him the position of deputy prime minister if Star could give its two state assembly seats for Warisan, PKR and DAP pact to form the new Sabah government.
“But I flatly rejected it because such a decision will mean we will surrender our state rights and sovereignty to Kuala Lumpur again and the implementation of Sabah rights including Sabah IC, the return of our oil and gas ownership and 40 percent revenue rights.
“With the arrangement we have agreed on, our position will be a lot better than Sarawak’s.
“From now on we are free to plan the future of Sabah in accordance with our own aspirations, culture and spirit.”
With the two state seats by Star, Musa is set to be sworn in again as the Sabah chief minister tonight.
Musa had announced that Star’s decision to form an alliance with BN allows the coalition to form the state government with a simple majority.
The pact consisting of Warisan, PKR and the DAP had collectively won 29 seats, the same number of seats won by BN. - Mkini
