As expected, the daggers are out for Umno president and BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak following the coalition losing power in the 14th general election.
According to Berita Harian, Kedah Umno Youth chief Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin urged the former premier to relinquish his post in Umno.
"Kedah Umno Youth had previously been consistent in defending the president but in the interest of the party's continuity in future, we demand Najib be magnanimous and vacate his position.
"Give it to leaders who are younger and more capable.
"It is clear that he failed to govern and defend the power which we have held for 60 years," he said.
Shaiful urged the transition of power in Umno to be expedited.
"We can no longer bear his (Najib's) personal liabilities. The party must arise and do a holistic transformation," he added.
In the May 9 polls, BN only managed to win 79 seats, while Pakatan Harapan and its allies captured 122, which includes Warisan and a PKR-backed independent. PAS gained 18 seats. -Mkini
