KTM Komuter with BN ad, Najib's face vandalised

GE14 | Up to 18 windows of a Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM) Komuter train which had been plastered with Barisan National (BN) ads, including the face of its president Najib Abdul Razak, have been smashed in with rocks.
However, KTM chairperson Nawawi Ahmad said he could not confirm the BN's weighing scale logo or Najib image were what stoked the vandals' ire.
"I am not sure (if the BN logo or Najib's face) were the cause... in this life, not everyone likes (BN) and not everyone dislikes, but in this case, I am asking the people to think with an open mind (and) not rely on emotions to destroy government properties and those windows were expensive.
"If (we) nab those responsible, I will request appropriate punishment is meted out, a heavy punishment for destroying government property," he told reporters at the Langkawi tourism night at the Mahsuri international exhibition centre last night.
Meanwhile, in a statement, KTM appealed to the public to refrain from vandalising KTM trains as these acts could place their passengers, crew and drivers in harm's way.
The government-linked company also stressed that action can be taken against those responsible under the Section 130 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715), which carries a fine of up to RM50,000 and up to 20 years jail upon conviction.
Nawawi, who is also BN's candidate for Langkawi, also reminded those who live near the tracks to be more responsible and not throw rocks, reiterating that this could harm passengers, destroy government properties.
He said action can be taken and said KTM will deploy its security personnel to areas identified as problematic. - Mkini
