MACC chief resigns, AG clocks in for work as normal

MACC chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad has tendered his resignation to chief secretary to the government, Ali Hamsa this morning.
This is after Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad met Ali and other senior government officials at the Yayasan Perdana Leadership Foundation in Putrajaya.
"The resignation letter has been submitted to Mahathir for approval.
"It has yet to decided who will replace Dzulkifli,” a source told Malaysiakini.
Meanwhile, another source told Malaysiakini that Dzulkifli will be moving back to the Attorney-General's Chambers, where he served prior to his MACC stint.
Soon after winning the 14th general election, Mahathir warned that heads would roll in several agencies.
He accused MACC of ignoring widespread corruption.
"We will study if MACC is fair or not. If we find they were biased in any way, including to ourselves (those in Pakatan Harapan), we will have to change them.
"As we promised, the new major heads of government (agencies) will be vetted by Parliament," he said.
Malaysiakini is trying to reach Dzulkifli, who was appointed on July 29, 2016, for comment.
Mahathir had also mentioned that there is no attorney-general at the moment but Mohamed Apandi Ali was reported to have clocked in for work as normal this morning.
The prime minister claimed that Apandi concealed evidence regarding the 1MDB scandal, but the latter denied this.
Also in Mahathir's crosshairs is Election Commission chairperson Mohd Hashim Abdullah. -Mkini
