Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir was sworn in for his second term as Kedah menteri besar at 4.18pm today.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Istana Anak Bukit before Kedah's Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah.
Mukhriz captured the Jitra state seat in Kedah during Wednesday's general election, beating BN incumbent Aminuddin Omar and PAS' Zulhazmi Osman with a 10,849-vote majority.
Mukhriz first became menteri besar after BN recaptured Kedah in the 2013 general election.
He was ousted in 2016 following his father Dr Mahathir Mohamad's attacks on then-prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
He was then replaced with Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.
Pakatan Harapan won the most seats in Kedah with 18 seats. However, they do not have a simple majority as BN has three seats, while PAS has 15.
If PAS joins forces with BN, it could result in a hung parliament. - Mkini
