KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has left his residence at Taman Duta here to attend a series of events in Pekan, Pahang.
The former prime minister, who is also Pekan MP, left his home in a white Toyota Vellfire at 9.20am on Sunday.
His convoy included three other cars but its passengers are not known. They were escorted by police outriders.
Earlier in the morning, some 50 Puteri Umno members visited him at his house.
Federal investigators have been searching properties linked to Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor since last Wednesday (May 16), including the couple’s private mansion in Taman Duta and two luxury condo units in Pavilion Residences here.
The official residence of the prime minister in Seri Perdana, Putrajaya, and the Prime Minister’s Office in Putra Perdana are also being combed.
The confiscated items include several truckloads of boxes containing luxury Hermes, Chanel and Gucci handbags and suitcases with hard cash in various currencies.
On Friday (May 18), the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had served the notice on Najib for his statement to be recorded in relation to a probe into SRC International, a former unit of a subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
MACC had initiated a probe on SRC International in 2015 following allegations that it had been transferring millions of ringgit into Najib’s private accounts.
