GE14 | BN leader Najib Abdul Razak made his maiden Selangor campaign stop today in Puncak Alam, a town within the Kuala Selangor parliamentary constituency which voted against BN in 2013.
According to several BN activists, the 2013 campaign was hampered by internal problems and Najib was roped in to give their campaign a boost.
Najib began his campaign by having breakfast in Puncak Alam before visiting the district clinic and then a primary school.
The caretaker prime minister saved his vitriol for the event at SK Puncak Alam (2), attacking Pakatan Harapan for close to 20 minutes, primarily over the state's water woes.
He said some problems could only be resolved through cooperation between the state and federal government and there will be conflict if the same party was not ruling both governments.
"If you look at the Langat 2 water refinery plant we are willing to spend RM3.65 billion but this is unresolved due to the state government had different thinking.
"The state wanted to take over Splash but this is not resolved from an earlier offer of RM250 million to the increase to RM2.6 billion.
"This resulted in some leaders to say when PKR leaders get the vote the people have to carry pails," he said.
Najib also pledged RM500,000 to improve the school field and the construction of a new district education office.
He further addressed the concerns raised by incumbent Kuala Selangor MP Irmohizam Ibrahim, the prior speaker, over the construction of a new Mara Junior Science College in Ijok, the expansion of the Puncak Alam community clinic and the upgrading of the UiTM hospital.
Najib assured that these projects will take off if BN retains hold of Putrajaya and wrest Kuala Selangor.
He said BN had the interest of the people at heart, citing how the establishment of the National Cancer Institute in Putrajaya as proof of this.
Najib added that the hospital now has a special machine that cost RM22 million to treat cancer.
"That institute possess the equipment, the second in the country. As a result, those seeking treatment are only charged RM12 if they stay at a third class ward while RM200 for a second class ward and RM400 for a first class ward.
"If you compare this to RM40,000 charged in private hospital for a similar treatment. This shows the BN government cares," he said.
Najib also urged teachers not to simply believe everything that was published through social media. - Mkini
