NAJIB, ZAHID’S POLICE ESCORTS TRANSFERRED OUT: SPECULATION MOUNTS AS MAHATHIR MEETS CHIEF JUSTICE, EX-AG GANI PATAIL, IGP

PUTRAJAYA – Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is currently meeting with Chief Justice Tun Md Raus Sharif and former attorney-general Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail at the Perdana Foundation building.
The duo were seen arriving at the venue separately in a black Toyota Alphard and a black Proton Perdana, respectively at 2.42pm.
Citing health reasons, Abdul Gani called time on his tenure as AG in July 2015, and was replaced by former Federal Court judge Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali.
There have been calls for Raus to step down as CJ due to allegations that his appointment had violated the Federal Constitution.
It is also understood that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun arrived moments ago at 3.40pm for a meeting with Dr Mahathir.
Former Special Branch deputy director Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador, who arrived at 3.25pm, said he was called in by Dr Mahathir to his office, but declined to comment further on the meeting.
“I was summoned to see him,” he said as he left.
When asked to confirm which other former government officials were also present, Abdul Hamid said “all the exes are inside,” but did not elaborate.
The former senior police intelligence officer was abruptly transferred to a different federal agency in August 2015.

Najib, Zahid’s police escorts transferred out

KUALA LUMPUR — Two senior police officers, who had served as aides-de-camp to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his deputy, have both been reassigned.
According to a police statement, DCP Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, who had been assigned to Najib, will be transferred to the federal police’s Internal Security and Public Order Department.
ACP Mohd Nasarudin M. Nasir, who was former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s ADC, will be shifted to Special Actions Unit (UTK).
When contacted, a Bukit Aman spokesman explained that the transfers were customary when a new prime minister and deputy prime minister are appointed.
“The officers are from the Special Actions Unit and can be discerned from their formal uniforms,” the spokesman said.
“They are expected to always remain near the VIPs for security purposes.”
According to media reports, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been reunited with his former police escorts.
