Nurul Izzah condemns 'invasive' harassment by radio show caller

PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar has condemned what she believes to be an invasive treatment made against her in relation to the way she dresses.
She was responding to netizens who expressed their sympathy and anger over what they believe to be an inappropriate treatment of a man who had reprimanded Nurul Izzah’s dressing.
“Appreciate it dear. Initially, I was taken aback. But heartened by the sensitivity and grace of so many in defence of women everywhere.
“Such invasiveness smacks of the sexism and harassment women have had to endure. We must push back, inculcate better appreciation and treatment of women,” Nurul Izzah tweeted.
DAP lawmaker Hannah Yeoh also came to her defence, telling the Permatang Pauh lawmaker to “hang in there”.
“Bullies come in so many shapes, including 'holier than thou' form. Organiser should have intervened,” Yeoh tweeted.
A caller to a radio show featuring Nurul Izzah, who identified himself as “Azrul”, told her that she needed to be more careful in how she dresses.
“Sometimes when your tudung shifts, people can see parts that they’re not supposed to see,” said the caller.
While Nurul Izzah appeared taken aback, both she and the show’s host Faizal Ismail thanked the caller for his observation.
However, Nurul Izzah’s face turned incredulous as the caller went on to describe how this is especially so when she wears a “tight kebaya”.
“We can see your underwear, can see your breasts,” he added.
Netizens commenting on the video posted by Twitter user Stevie Chan largely slammed Azrul, pointing out how there were ways to offer advice. - Mkini
