GE14 | Perak BN tonight announced that they have enough seats to form the state government.
State BN chairperson Zambry Abd Kadir's communications director Nizam Isa said the coalition will meet the sultan to get the consent.
"I would like to announce that BN has enough seats to form the state government.
"We will appear before Sultan Nazrin Azlan Shah to get his consent to form the Perak government," he said in a press conference at Impiana Hotel in Ipoh.
However, Nizam did not give any further details on whether BN will form the state government with PAS or when they will meet the sultan.
He also refused to entertain any questions.
Just a few hours earlier, Perak PAS met BN and Pakatan Harapan leaders unofficially, and told them that the party will not stop its struggles, including the move to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965, or Act 355.
Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria said the main condition to cooperate with PAS is that the two coalitions can't oppose or deny the party's struggle on Islamic issues.
Meanwhile, Perak Umno deputy chairperson Saarani Mohamad had said there may be some "good news" tomorrow.
Perak has a total of 59 state seats. Harapan won 29 seats, BN 27 seats and PAS three seats.
Harapan had one seat less to achieve the simple majority, while PAS became the kingmaker. -Mkini
