The Perlis menteri besar crisis is an example of why youths are sick of Umno, says party Puteri chief Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (above).
"The state is as big as a district but has a state assembly, menteri besar, MPs from Umno, and a Raja. Perlis should be united.
"But because of never-ending power struggles, Perlis has become an example of why the youth are sick of Umno," she tweeted, with the hashtag #berubahlah (change lah).
Perlis plunged into political turmoil after Menteri Besar Azlan Man was sacked from Umno just hours after being sworn in.
Perlis Umno chief Shahidan Kassim and the nine other BN assemblypersons in the state all refused to back Azlan, whom it is implied, was not among the names proposed to become menteri besar.
It is understood that Shahidan wanted to install his brother, Ismail Kassim for the post.
However, the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail did not want to appoint a menteri besar who was proposed by Shahidan.
BN had won 10 out of the 15 state seats in Perlis in the 14th general election. -Mkini
