Perlis will have a gov't tomorrow, says Shahidan

Perlis BN Shahidan Kassim said his state will have a government by tomorrow.

When met at the sidelines of the Umno 72nd anniversary event at PWTC last night, Shahidan also dismissed suggestions that those among his ranks were about to defect.

"Besok selesai (resolved tomorrow). Tomorrow BN will rule Perlis... We have 10 seats. Simple majority," he said.

When asked if there were negotiations with Pakatan Harapan, Shahidan said: "I don't know. Nobody told me anything."

So far, the only BN state governments that have been formed are in Pahang and Sarawak.

However, there appear to be attempts by the ruling coalition in Sarawak to break away from BN.

There are also attempts to form an Umno-PAS government in Perak.

On May 9, BN leader Najib Abdul Razak had led BN to its worse ever electoral outing ever, winning only 79 seats in parliament, down from 133 in 2013.

Following this, several parties in Sabah has broken away from BN. More defections are expected in the coming days. -Mkini
