PEKAN ― With three days before polling in the 14th general election, Datuk Seri Najib Razak tonight expressed confidence that the Barisan Nasional can win by a wide margin.
The Prime Minister said his confidence was based on the rounds he had made around the country and briefings from Umno leaders in each of the locations since campaigning began (on April 28).
The BN chairman said they included the leaders in Kepala Batas and Tasek Gelugor in Penang which he had visited this morning.
He noted that based on his observations, BN would retain the two parliamentary seats.
“After that I flew to Ipoh and took a car ride to Sungai Siput, at the hall (where he was to speak), it was so crowded that there were not enough chairs for the people to seat, even the aisles were filled with supporters and I was told that we had a good chance of wresting the Sungai Siput parliamentary seat from the Opposition.
“Insya Allah (God willing), if this happens we can win big provided that we can defend the seats that are already in our hands,” he said at a “Meet-the-People” session in Peramu Jaya here. ― Bernama
At Harapan ceramah, historian Khoo sees uncertainty after Umno sackings
Prominent historian Khoo Kay Kim made an appearance as an audience at Pakatan Harapan’s ceramah in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) tonight.
Asked to weigh in on the possible outcome for the 14th general election, Khoo said it was hard to predict, particularly after the sacking of Umno veterans Daim Zainuddin, Rafidah Aziz and Rais Yatim.
“It is difficult to anticipate what is happening, so you have to wait,” he said.
However, Khoo said he had been surprised by the people’s reaction, particularly the youths.
“I have asked around and nobody can really tell me (the outcome).
“I’m so surprised to see so many young people getting involved (in politics),” he said.
The ceramah tonight saw Rafidah stumping for DAP’s Segambutcandidate Hannah Yeoh.
Over 3,000 people turned up at the ceramah along Lorong Burhanuddin Helmi 8.
Both Rafidah and Daim have been campaigning for Harapan in the last few days.
During the same night, Daim was in Ayer Hitamcampaigning for DAP’s candidate Liew Chin Tong.
Bersatu has indicated that Rais will also join the campaigning in Negeri Sembilan in the next few days. MKINI
