PETALING JAYA: Malaysian political cartoonist Zunar says that his travel ban has been lifted.
On Monday, Zunar, whose real name is Zulkiflee Anwarul Haque, posted pictures of the Immigration Department website showing his travel ban status on his Twitter account.
This effectively ends his travel ban that spanned about one and a half years.
On Dec 7, 2016, he filed his application for a judicial review at the Kuala Lumpur High Court here challenging a travel ban imposed on him by the Immigration Department in October that same year.
He named the Immigration Department director-general, the Home Minister and the Government as respondents in his application.
He applied to the court to strike out the travel ban issued by the three against him verbally on Oct 17, 2016 when he was heading to a forum at the National University of Singapore.
In November 2017, the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed his application to challenge the travel ban.-Star
