Upko leaders meet Shafie, deal imminent?

GE14 | Two leaders from the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) have arrived at the residence of Parti Warisan Sabah president Mohd Shafie Apdal in Kota Kinabalu.

The leaders are Wilfred Madius Tangau and Donald Peter Mojuntin. Tangau won the Tuaran parliamentary seat. Mojuntin, however, lost the Moyog state seat.

Both Warisan and Upko leaders, however, kept mum over the reason of their visit.

The leaders are currently in a discussion in a room. Media personnel were told that a press conference will be held later.

Upko won five state seats and one parliamentary seat in the election.

Should Upko decide to join Warisan, together with PKR and the DAP, the pact will have 34 state seats, enough to form the Sabah state government.

Currently, BN, too, has 29 state seats while Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) won two seats.

Earlier, Shafie was barred from entering the official residence of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Juhar Mahiruddin.

Believed to be trying to seek a meeting with Juhar, Shafie’s convoy was blocked as it reached Jalan Istana, about two kilometres away from the gates of the residence.

A group of police personnel from the Light Strike Force stood firmly at the area, blocking anyone who had no reason to use the road from entering. -Mkini
