Vote for party of your choice - IGP tells personnel


GE14 | Police personnel have the right to cast their ballots for the party of their choice, said inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
He also assured that their votes would be secret.
"We do not determine which party they can vote for. All votes are secret and this is definitely something we practise within the force
"They (the personnel) will decide, it is their right to vote for the party they choose," he was quoted as saying by the Star Online.
Fuzi revealed that the police has 111,702 early voters with 5,660 voters at the federal headquarters of Bukit Aman and 106,042 voters at the respective states nationwide.
"The process of early voting is expected to start at 9am on Saturday (May 5) and will end at 5pm.
"We have set up voting stations at the Officers' Mess and Perkep House here at Bukit Aman," he said.
He added that early voting centres would be set up at each state police headquarters.
In his message to early voters this afternoon, caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak urged the members of the security forces to pick BN which has always prioritised their welfare and well-being.
He accused the opposition of not appreciating their sacrifices and warned them about its plan to slash the civil service if comes into power.
On Wednesday, Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad penned an open letter to the armed forces' generals, expressing hope that personnel would be able to vote freely without restrictions. - Mkini
