Two Perak state assemblypersons who helped Pakatan Harapan secure a simple majority and form the state government have claimed they are still with BN.
Tualang Sekah assemblyperson Nolee Radzi said she had supported Harapan menteri besar candidate Ahmad Faizal Azumu's bid to form the government to ensure stability in the state and for its people.
This is because Perak still did not have a state government three days after the elections.
"However, I wish to stress that I did not jump parties, and still represent BN. I apologise and am prepared to face further action from the party leadership," Nolee said in a Facebook posting last night.
Similarly, Sungai Manik assemblyperson Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin told the New Straits Times that he did not jump parties, but only supported Faizal to be menteri besar.
"I myself informed the Sultan that I only supported the Chenderiang assemblyperson (Faizal) as menteri besar. That was my signed affidavit... I made no mention of supporting Harapan," Zainol Fadzi was quoted as saying.
He said there was no inducement behind his decision.
In Wednesday’s polls, Harapan won a total of 29 seats, one short of the 30 required to form a simple majority in the state assembly.
Support for Faizal from the two BN assemblypersons, however, tipped the scales in Harapan's favour. -Mkini
