Yoursay: Najib, time to come clean with the Malaysian people

YOURSAY | One can see no remorse coming from the ousted BN chief.
Ruben: One can see no remorse coming from ousted BN chief Najib Razak. He does not take responsibility for BN’s election defeat. Instead, he blames Pakatan Harapan for spreading lies and slander.
He appears to keep lying and lying; just to quote two examples: 1) The amount of cash found in the 70 bags from his house were donations, and 2) I would have listened to Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin if he had told me.
Najib, former Umno president Dr Mahathir Mohamad, your former deputy Muhyiddin Yassin and Sabah leader Shafie Apdal had all repeatedly told you that what you were doing was wrong. But you did not listen.
I waiting for the time you and your wife stand trial.
Anonymous 8231440077354: The strangest thing about all this nonsense is that there are people like those 500 who attended Najib's rally in Pekan who still believe that he is speaking the truth and he is still relevant to them.
It is amazing that at this time and age, we still have such people around.
As long as there are people like these, Najib will be relevant. May God save Malaysia from such people.
BuatApa?: There was never going to be any attempt at suing The Wall Street Journal(WSJ).
It was all a public relations spin to fool Malaysians, a show of bravado that was as totally false as Najib and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, and the entire Umno-BN outfit of alleged crooks and liars themselves.
Najib and Rosmah knew full well WSJ had them both by their short hairs, as did whistleblower website Sarawak Report.
But the work isn't over: Malaysians must band together once more and get Clare Rewcastle-Brown and Sarawak Report into that hopelessly corrupt Sarawak.
And Malaysians should put up a fighting fund for Sarawak Report so it can continue its work on unmasking corruption in Malaysia, even if happens under Harapan.
Gulengtu: I am glad that he did not resign when Mahathir was on his back or else BN would still be running this country rather than Harapan, and we would not see the current reformation taking place in the country.
Thank you Najib, for being in the state of denial that enabled all these to happen.
Puzzling: Yes, on deeper reflection Najib should be credited for facilitating the change towards a better Malaysia by staying on as a kleptocrat to lead the BN in GE14.
Thank you Najib, for without you, there would not be a new beginning.
Apa Nama: Malaysiakini columnist Mariam Mokhtar, Najib is not "mudah lupa" (one who forgets easily).
He is just pretending to "mudah lupa". He is trying to fool some of the people, especially the Pekan folks, but he cannot fool all the people, all the time.
He will keep on denying even during the imminent investigation and court trials. I trust his case will be beyond reasonable doubt instead of just a prima facie case. The evidence is all around the globe, thus beyond reasonable doubt would apply in his case.
Even if, let's say, he should be sent to jail, he would still deny it and say he did not steal the money.
Anyway, we need to do the right thing and let his case be a lesson for others, who need to think 10 times before touching public or taxpayers' money.
Anonymous 1890491455255851: None of those in the previous government can be called god-fearing. They believe they were the chosen ones.
The constantly resorting to religion as a means to present themselves in what they believe is positive light amongst certain quarters, is so old, it’s annoying.
No one should fall for that anymore.
BuatApa?: Mariam, the "reign of terror" of which you speak isn't just nine years old, but has been happening since 1969.
In fact, the reign of terror started in 1946, by Malayans of the time themselves, of one particular brand, who started their faux nationalist/traditionalist ‘ketuanan Melayu’ campaign.
The reign of terror existed because Malaysians for almost 50 years allowed it to rain down on them, while they cowered. In the end, they were enslaved to a Malay regime of alleged criminals.
And, please, do not gloss over the 22 years of Mahathirist reign of terror too.
Those who were persecuted and jailed by that dictator then may now forgive, but they'll never forget. And if they say this differently, I'll call them liars.
But it's true: Najib can't accept the truth. Nobody in Umno and BN can.
They've more than lost the election; they've been belted and decimated, and now look like lost and confused sheep. But they deserve this - and more.
Then again, lots of Malaysians, in my experience, also can't accept the truth about their country, just as they can't be told anything different other than what they only want to hear, see and believe. How do you, Mariam, account for this louse of an attitude?
This country needs more than just change, it needs fundamental reconstruction of government, institutions, the entire political system, the economy, education and society.
Malays must understand now they have been robbed by their own leaders and led by the nose to nowhere by their own leaders.
Their rights have been secure all along; nobody is challenging these. But ‘ketuanan Melayu’ needs to be buried along with Umno. It's what has ruined this country for six decades.

Let it not ruin the country more in the course of the next six decades with more ingrained stupidity, selfishness, and ignorance. -Mkini
