Zahid arrives to seek audience with Raja Perlis over MB issue

ARAU: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is assuming the duties of the Umno president, has arrived at the Istana Arau for an audience with Raja Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, over the Mentri Besar issue in the state.

Dr Ahmad Zahid arrived at the palace at 11.20am Tuesday to discuss the matter with the Raja Perlis, as the state has been without a Mentri Besar since the 14th general election on May 9 which saw Barisan Nasional win 10 out of 15 seats.

Perlis Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim had announced that the state coalition has agreed to name Tambun Tulang assemblyman Datuk Ismail Kassim, who is also his younger brother, as candidate for the MB post.

However, to date, he has yet to be sworn in as MB.
