Pakatan Harapan de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has appealed to all quarters to back Amirudin Shari as a menteri besar who represents the coalition.
“This can be resolved in an amicable manner within Harapan,” he said in a Twitter posting.
Amirudin was sworn in as Selangor menteri besar this morning amid claims that he did not receive Harapan’s blessings.
Speaking at a luncheon in Shah Alam later, Amirudin said he will leave it to the Harapan leadership to respond to this allegation.
"Let Harapan, especially PKR, answer the question. I leave it to the leadership to explain the matter," he told reporters.
This was in response to a claim by Ijok assemblyperson Dr Idris Ahmad earlier today that he was the only menteri besar candidate endorsed by all Harapan parties and Amiruddin's appointment did not receive the coalition's blessings.
Idris was reportedly one of three candidates named for the post, which fell vacant following PKR deputy president Azmin Ali’s appointment as a federal minister.
Amirudin, who is also the Sungai Tua assemblyperson, said he respects Idris' views and this was reflective of the Selangor administration which is open to views and criticisms.
"Everyone has their views, I will make sure the administration will accept feedback from all quarters, in order to move forward," he added.
He hoped that no one will politicise his appointment as well as his exco members' line-up, and instead work with him to develop Selangor, like what they did under Azmin's administration.
"We have the full exco line up, I believe we will work better as a team.
"This is not an individual victory, this is Harapan's victory. We don't have time to play politics. We have to work hard to ensure we can fulfil the mandate of the rakyat," he added.
According to Aminuddin, he will not reshuffle the portfolios of exco members appointed by Azmin, after the latter was sworn-in as the MB after the May 9 general election.
"I have to talk to all excos, it has only been a month since they were sworn in. There may not be changes as they have adapted to their duties, if there are any, it would be minimal," he assured.
He added that the same would apply to projects in the state.
Amirudin also pledged to continue Azmin's performance in maintaining the state's economy as one of the country's highest. - Mkini
