PAS vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah (above) has proposed that Umno is dissolved and its members migrate to PAS.
"In my opinion, Umno's era is over, the best solution is to dissolve Umno.
"Join PAS - end of story. Many issues can be resolved. We are open if they want to join PAS," he told journalists at Kelantan PAS Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house in Kota Bharu last night.
Mohd Amar said this in response to Umno and BN's electoral defeat in the May 9 general election and its efforts to recover from that loss.
Since the defeat, BN, which comprise 13 parties going into the 14th general election, has quickly disintegrated.
All BN component parties in Sabah and Sarawak have quit the coalition, while PPP is engaged in a power struggle over an attempt to quit BN.
The one formidable coalition is now left with four parties, namely Umno, MCA, MIC and Gerakan.
Umno will decide on its new leadership on June 30.
However, Mohd Amar declined to weigh into the matter.
"I don't want to comment (on Umno polls) as Umno is another party. If I comment I would be disturbing their affairs," he said. - Mkini
