Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak said he has decided to set up an office to handle private affairs and serve as a venue for his constant stream of visitors.
Najib wrote on his Facebook page today that he has been visited by supporters, friends, Umno members and Umno leaders from across the country.
"They come to convey their good wishes, show support and ask for opinions on current affairs. I have an unending stream of visitors. Thank you," he wrote.
Najib did not provide details of where his private office will be located or when it will be set up.
He also said that he and his family would be spending Hari Raya in Pekan, Pahang. He also confirmed that he would be defending his position as Pekan division chief in the upcoming Umno elections.
Najib called on Umno members to continue with the party struggle and rebuild the party.
"As the (then) Umno president and BN chairperson, I take responsibility for our defeat during the 14th general election.
"We have to rise up. The time for grieving is over," he said.
He said Umno had contributed much to the country and was synonymous with the country's many successes.
Umno was left with 54 seats in the Dewan Rakyat and controls only two states - Perlis and Pahang - following the May 9 polls. -Mkini
