Mira urges those involved in Ramadan bazaar scandal to resign

PETALING JAYA: The Minority Rights Action Party (Mira) has urged those involved in the Ramadan bazaar scandal in Jalan Masjid India to step down from their respective positions.
In a statement on Friday, its senior vice-president S. Gobi Krishnan, who is also the chairman of its Wilayah Persekutuan liaison committee, called for the resignations of Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) Licensing and Petty Traders Development Department director Anwar Mohd Zain and Bukit Bintang Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) Chief Zailani Isausuludin and Pribumi Youth chief Mohd Noorhisyam Abd Karim.
Gobi added that stern action should be taken against those responsible for the controversy to ensure transparency and accountability.
"All the above persons have failed in their fiduciary duties of trust to take care of the rakyat. As such all of them must take responsibilities and resign to safeguard the trust of the rakyat given to the Pakatan Harapan Federal Government," he said.
.Previously, it was reported that Mohd Noorhisyam was accused of misusing political connections to secure 80 bazaar lots and renting it out for as high as RM5,000 per lot.
However, Anwar said he was forced to approve Mohd Noorhisyam's application for bazaar lots after receiving a support letter from Fong.
Meanwhile, Zailani has denied any involvement in the issue and claimed that it was only brought to his attention after he was approached by traders.
He has said that he would be lodging a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Pribumi Youth chief Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman has also called for the authorities to investigate the matter.- Star
