MOA identifies problematic, delayed projects

The Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry (MOA) is in the process of identifying problematic and delayed projects under its agencies and bodies.
Its minister Salahuddin Ayub said he had directed the ministry’s secretary-general to review the status of these projects and submit a report to him at the latest by the end of this week.
“Among the agencies where action has been taken is the National Farmers’ Organisation (Nafas). Serious attention is also being given to several other agencies and we will try to complete it within this week.
"If it involves the law, we will hand it over to the police or the MACC to investigate.
“We will ensure all these 'rubbish' are discarded quickly, any (agency or body) which disrupts the aims and objectives of the ministry, we will take action. We want it to be tackled immediately,” he told reporters after a working visit to the site of the Cockles and Oyster Pioneer Project in Kolam Laman Alamjaya, Parit Bulat Laut in Muar today.
He said these problematic and delayed project had a negative impact on the affected entrepreneurs, jeopardising the ministry’s efforts to attain its set targets.
Meanwhile, Salahuddin said all cumbersome bureaucracy in the ministry’s agencies and bodies would be stopped to speed up the process of providing aid to the applicants.
“We will hold talks to ensure that the aid reaches the target groups quickly. We will cut down bureaucracy without affecting service, for instance, a three-month project can be shortened to one month,” he said.
