MyEG Services Bhd has clarified that news articles which appeared to insinuate that the management of illegal workers for the rehiring programme was terminated on an ad hoc basis are inaccurate and misleading.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, MyEG said the programme is adhering to its existing prescribed deadlines.
MyEG said that on Jan 23, 2017, the company announced that it had received a notification letter from the Home Ministry that the project would last until Dec 31, 2017 instead of Aug 15, 2016.
"Furthermore, the board wishes to clarify that new registration under the project had ceased since Dec 31, 2017 in accordance with the Home Ministry’s letter dated Jan 23, 2017.
“The June 30, 2018 closing date as stated in news articles is the grace period to allow all remaining registrants to complete all pending procedures under the project,” it said.
“The board would like to assure all parties that there are no changes to its business activities and all concession and commercial services are operating as usual," it added.
MyEG, which was Bursa Malays’a most active stock today, lost 16 sen to 70.5 sen with 205.84 million shares changing hands as at 4.30 pm.
