New AG promises to brush up on his BM

Newly appointed attorney-general Tommy Thomas has pledged to brush up on the national language.
Speaking to reporters on his first day of work today, Thomas said he had been in private practice for four decades, and therefore his command of Bahasa Malaysia was not up to mark.
"The trouble with private practice, which I have been in for 42 years, (involved) dealing with commercial clients and commercial documents.
"I guess I have neglected my Bahasa so I need to brush it up. I promise to brush it up," he said.
Thomas was a barrister, constitutional law expert and civil litigator.
He is the first non-Muslim attorney-general in the country since Cecil M Sheridan stepped down as attorney-general of Malaya in 1963.

Thomas, 66, is currently on a two-year contract.  - Mkini
