No more Ramadan, Deepavali bazaars along Jln TAR

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will no longer allow Ramadan and Deepavali bazaars along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman from next year.
Mayor Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz said the seasonal bazaars caused traffic and waste management problems which had incurred the ire of property owners in the vicinity.
He said the associations managing the bazaars were disorganised and illegal traders would often flood the grounds, leading to standoffs with DBKL staff and other traders.
"It inconveniences everyone," he told reporters at DBKL's Aidilfitri event today, according to Sinar Harian.
He said traders will have to relocate if they wish to operate during Ramadan next year. He said there were at least two bazaar grounds in every parliamentary constituency.
"Traders will need to find a suitable location and talk to the organisers or MPs... Now we listen to the public and MPs," he said.
According to the report, the bazaar, which is commonly known as the Masjid India Bazaar, had begun operating in 2003. It has since expanded from 100 lots to 300.
A major controversy occurred prior to Aidilfitri this year after a ruling party politician was accused of scalping traders. -Mkini
