Overseas Umno Club Alumni Association chairperson Wan Agyl Wan Hassan has joined the race to become the next Umno Youth chief.
At 34-years-old, Wan Agyl is the youngest of the four candidates named thus far.
"I pledge to bring an agenda of change and cleansing of Umno through a revolution... based on race, religion and country if given the mandate to lead the Umno youth wing.
"This is not a manifesto or a promise, but a vow in the name of Umno," he said in a statement today.
Wan Agyl yesterday said that positions in the youth wing should only be given to those below the age of 40.
Two of the main contenders for the Umno Youth chief, Khairul Azwan Harun and Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, are 42 years old this year.
The third challenger, Paya Besar MP Mohd Shahar Abdullah, is 38.
Membership for Umno Youth ends at 40, but there is no age limit for its chief position. -Mkini
