Zahid is the third major opposition party leader to meet with Mahathir in recent weeks after PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and PBB leader Abang Johari Abang Openg.
Last year, both Zahid and Mahathir were engaged in a war of words prompted by the former’s decision to question the latter’s “Malay-ness”.
Zahid claimed Mahathir’s “original” identity card had implied that the latter was of Indian descent.
Following this, Mahathir accused Zahid of having massive wealth and was plotting against then prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
