GOMBAK: With Raya fast approaching, Baharuddin Majid’s only wish was for his daughter, Nur Nazirah, 14, who went missing on Friday, to return home.
“Prior to her disappearance, she told me that she wanted to go to her grandmother’s house in Melaka for Hari Raya celebration, but I asked her to wait until I finished with my work,” he said.
Baharuddin, 48, said his wife realised the disappearance of his youngest daughter at their home in Gombak around 5pm yesterday after returning from Raya shopping.
“She said she couldn’t find Nazirah in her room.
“She also found a letter written by Nazirah on her desk. In the letter, she told us not to look for her as she wanted to live independently.
“I tried calling her, but she had since switched off her mobile phone,” he said when contacted today.
Baharuddin said her daughter had voiced out her desire to go back to her grandmother’s house, who is his former mother-in-law, a few days ago.
“At the time, I did not allow her to go as she still had classes to attend.
“She was unhappy about it and had skipped classes on Tuesday, claiming that she was having a headache.
“I reprimanded her at first, but eventually gave in and managed to calm her down by promising to bring her shopping yesterday,” he said, adding that Nazirah also brought her Raya clothes with her.
“I called my former in-laws to ask whether Nazirah was with them, but none of them knew where she went.
“I had also contacted my son, who lives with my ex-wife, but he told me that Nazirah was not with them,” he said, adding that he had lodged a police report at the Kundang police station yesterday.
He urged those with information of Nur Nazirah’s whereabouts to call the nearest police station.
