PETALING JAYA: The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) has received the investigation papers on the scandal-hit state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Attorney General Tommy Thomas said that he would require time to review the papers but appreciated the urgency and sensitivity of the tasks.
Thomas also said he had appointed a team to study the papers with a view to possibly institute criminal prosecution and civil proceedings.
“Members of both teams are experienced deputy public prosecutors and senior federal counsel who will report directly to me,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (June 12).
Thomas added that he had signed a Mutual Legal Assistance requests with Switzerland, United States, France, and the United Arab Emirates over the case.
He hopes that this would commence assistance and collaborative efforts with them. – ANN

PUTRAJAYA— The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) announced today that it has received the investigation papers relating to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
It said it would now require some time to review the papers.
“In order to effectively discharge our duties, I have appointed a team to study the papers with a view to possibly instituting criminal prosecution,” Attorney General (AG) Tommy Thomas said in a statement.
Thomas also said he has signed Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) requests from Switzerland, the United States, France and Switzerland. – MALAY MAIL
