KOTA KINABALU: Tourists have been temporarily barred from visiting the iconic City Mosque here following a viral video of two women acting inappropriately here, said mosque chairman Datuk Jamal Sakaran.
Jamal Sakaran said the video of the two women dancing on top of the fence in front of the mosque was regrettable as tourists have been briefed on the do’s and don’ts of visiting the mosque.
“Our immediate action is to close this mosque to visitors. All express buses, Grab cars and taxis are not allowed to bring tourists to the mosque compound,” he said in a statement on Sunday (June 24).
He said these vehicles and buses are not allowed to park in the area.
Jamal added that only taxis registered with the mosque management are allowed to bring visitors to the mosque.
He also said that the mosque management will also be hiring more RELA members to guard the building and its compound
Meanwhile, a non-governmental religious body – Pertubuhan Penyatuan Islam Sabah, will be lodging a report on the matter at the Karamunsing police station at about 4.30pm Sunday.- Star
