There are still PAS leaders unable to accept the new reality that majority of Malaysians have rejected the politics of race and religion, Pahang Harapan has said.
State Harapan information chief Zulkifli Mohamed said that while a month has passed since the historic general election, there are still those who sought to restore political tension by playing up the issue of race.
He was referring to the statement made by PAS researcher Mohd Zuhdi Marsuki yesterday in which the latter accused the Harapan-led government of trying to force DAP's "Malaysian Malaysia" ideology on the bumiputera community.
Mohd Zuhdi had claimed this ideology was fashioned as the 'New Malaysia' concept and threatened to remove the special treatment for "certain races and the supremacy of a certain religion".
Such accusations, Zulkifli said, defames the Harapan government and could not be accepted.
"Such wild and irresponsible accusation clearly reflects a crisis of the mind and an illness of the soul that is becoming more chronic, nesting in the hearts of a part of the PAS leadership.
"It is as though they just cannot accept the reality that such narrow race and religion-based politics have been rejected by the majority of the rakyat in this country," Zulkifli said in a statement.
Zulkifli stressed that Harapan component parties have an agreement, which it signed on Dec 2016, to defend the Federal Constitution, Islam as the religion of the federation, the special rights of the Malays and the constitutional royal institution.
As all parties under the Harapan flag are bound by this pact, he said it would be slanderous for any party to allege that Harapan was trying to destroy the powers of the Malay rulers and Islam and the official religion of the country. -Mkini
