YOURSAY | ‘No more waiting. Get the mastermind behind the murder.’
Vijay47: Like the C4 that was used on the defenceless victim Altantuya Shaariibuu, a reopening of the case will see a huge explosion where almost everyone involved at any stage of the murder will be brought down.
This includes the Defence Ministry, the police, both prosecution and defence teams, and even the judiciary. From the very start, the investigation seemed to have only one objective in mind – find a fall guy, put him away, and hope that everything would soon be forgotten.
Sirul Azhar Umar and Azilah Hadri were obviously acting on orders, but that offers no mitigation at all, they do not deserve an iota of mercy considering the savage manner they murdered an allegedly mother-to-be.
What defeats logic is that seemingly, nobody was concerned enough to trace the chain of command and that even during the trial, nobody thought it fit to ask that fateful question “Who ordered you?”
Every aspect of the case was riddled with cause screaming for further query – the alleged relationships Altantuya had, the missing immigration records, the fact that the two accused did not know the victim, the abrupt retraction of a damning statutory declaration, the flurry of messages between a controversial lawyer and people in high places.
Perhaps dead men tell no tales, but when karma decides, their spirit can haunt you to your own grave.
Peace: Indeed, there is so much more to this case. There’s a great doubt over the entire machinery of the home and defence ministries. We need to know what has been going on.
Can the two ministries under the new government find out and let us know? Who is the mastermind, and how did it happen that the command went down the line to the eventual two killers who are now in jail.
Every party, from the commander down to the middlemen should be hauled up and questioned and disciplined. Needless to say, the justice system is another story. The new ministers must get to the bottom of the case.
Simple Malaysian: Yes, the mastermind and the motive behind Altantuya’s murder needs to be investigated and this case put to rest.
The rest, like Sirul and Azilah, erring judges, erasure of immigration records and other consequential and related wrongdoings may be investigated thereafter.
Once the mastermind and motive are determined by the court, the rest will be easy and straightforward to act on.
Anonymous 770241447347646: Let the Australians keep Sirul, as he will only speak if he is granted a full pardon. Azilah is here and will be more useful. He will have answers on who issued the orders.
This is a simple case, as definitely the police know the whole truth. The case was even conducted by avoiding certain questions, as it might open a can of worms and implicate those involved. It is time to close this case and put Altantuya's soul to rest.
There are already tons of evidence and witnesses available in Malaysia. It is a question of political will which was lacking in the previous administration for obvious reasons.
Do we have the political will now, Pakatan Harapan?
Anonymous_db56f03b: No more waiting. Go get them.
Anonymous_b497ffa7: Setev Shaariibuu deserves a chance to speak with the new prime minister and get the murder case reopened for a proper and impartial trial to get some closure over the murder of his daughter.
And we, the rakyat, also deserve to know the truth. Why was C4 used? Why were the immigration records erased? Why weren’t all witnesses called to testify? Why were two police officers willing to carry out the gruesome deed and shoulder responsibility, to the extent of facing the death penalty?
And most importantly, who ordered the murder?
Anonymous_82169d69: I wonder what the murderers received in return for their ‘service.’ Hope it was worth their lives, because they are almost literally on the chopping block.
Anonymous 2456541485523213: As much as this case is exceptional, in a country where there is no rule of law, it could happen to any one of us. It is really scary.
All political parties should press for a royal commission of inquiry to find out who was behind the killing.
Fair Play: A RCI would be preferable to a police investigation. There may still be bad elements within the force.
Ex-PJ: Although we have a new Harapan-appointed attorney-general, I am only worried about the high-ranking officials appointed by the previous administration who may want to remain quiet for fear of being proved complicit.
Alunan Ombak: Karma will strike hard like a blinding thunderbolt at the suspected culprit when the motive of the murder is established.
Anonymous_9299ace8: Like the proverb says, “Sepandai-pandai tupai melompat, akhirnya jatuh ke tanah juga.” The day of reckoning is drawing close for those who have committed this heinous murder.
JBond: Pile up everything and anything on the suspects at the same time. Break their concentration, and those of their acolytes, in telling tales.
This is a faster way to get to the bottom of things, rather than allowing them breathing space one case after another.
Fighting for Justice: The whole nation, other than those who are guilty, wants the case to proceed. An innocent pregnant woman was killed. Justice must be served. - Mkini
