Anwar: Dr M is the best man to lead the country

PORT DICKSON: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is the best man to lead the country at the moment, given the condition it was in due to the previous administration.

Port Dickson by-election candidate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in expressing his admiration towards his former nemesis, said he was willing to leave things in the past to reform the country and bring it back to the right track.

"I can tell you that the best person to run it now is Tun Dr Mahathir. I am saying this with all sincerity. I love him as a father and a leader.

"Yes, I fought against him but now I accept that he is the best man to lead Malaysia," said Anwar, who received a thunderous applause from the crowd of thousands of people here on Monday night.

Anwar, who announced that he was very happy to share the stage with his former mentor after some 18 years, said Malaysia is very lucky to have a statesman such as Dr Mahathir to help steer the country from it's perilous economic state.- Star
