FMT EXCLUSIVE - Munawar Anees : Anwar admitted guilt for the sake of pardon

former Anwar speechwriter warning about Anwar

Anwar got pardon for political expediency
does not mean I should emulate him
he admit guilt for sake of pardon, so be it,” Munawar told FMT
“My conscience is not for sale,” he said

social stigma persists, even today,” said Anees
Anees 70, rejects seeking pardon

he met Dr Mahathir in 2008 and made peace
Anees makes no secret of his admiration for Mahathir
calling him “self-respecting visionary” who transformed Malaysia
“He provided leadership that brought confidence
He enacted mechanisms to reduce social disparity,” he said.

same words not for Anwar, the man he once worked with.
“Knowing Anwar for so long, my advice is reflect deeply on his ambitions”

On financial downhill and social stigma

social stigma persists, even today
my innocence perpetually suspect
inflated egos greet me with smirk on their face

On Anwar’s wife or daughter vacating the seat for him

Whether or not ringgit changed hands for Anwar in Port Dickson
vacating seat either by Azizah or Nurul would stop spousal and dynastic politics
Nurul could have vacated her seat – in line with their slogan: “Justice for Papa!”
Azizah could have stepped in for her distraught husband
But being DPM, even if no more than a toothless tiger, is too much to lose

On pardon for Anwar

What sort of “full pardon” is this - court proclaim his sodomy?
it takes two to tango
when will legal action against him for taking part in sodomy?
When will the world see Anwar being called to stand in the dock?

On being pardoned ala Anwar

Pardon implies admission of guilt.
he admit guilt for the sake of pardon

On Dr Mahathir today

Dr Mahathir is an astute politician.
He knows tenacity.
He is a self-respecting visionary.
Good leadership requires all these qualities, and more.
I admire him for his life-long service to the nation.
He has won both moral and political victory over Anwar.

On Anwar’s ‘outdated style’

Knowing Anwar and his style, my advice is reflect deeply on ambitions
Islamic card seems to have lost lustre.
Ethnic politics is an arid land.
Euro-American multiculturalism is kaput
Reformasi is a dead horse

he should learn from his old mentor, Dr Mahathir
he really needs to reflect on what future holds

On Barisan Nasional’s defeat

country followed a path of maturity
Umno’s demise strengthened inter-ethnic relations

My comments :  Yet another Anwarista abandons him. Over the years so many Anwaristas and pro Anwar people have left him. Ultimately they all come to their senses. This EXCLUSIVE interview with FMT by Munawar Anees is just another example.

A bit late - 20 years in the making - but n'theless it is yet another person who was close to the Brader who is now dumping on him. Dumping means 'kincin'.

Along with Tian Chua, Azmin Ali, Zuraida and a host of other PKR folks as well.

So who is left holding up Anwar's butt?
