PORT DICKSON: An Umno hardcore supporter in the Chuah state constituency confronted PKR candidate Anwar Ibrahim in the Port Dickson by-election today.
She asked the PKR president-elect whether he was going to fulfil all the promises he had made over the past two weeks during his campaigning.
She also questioned why Anwar did not take over the Pandan or Permatang Pauh parliamentary seats instead, held by Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (Anwar’s wife) and Nurul Izzah Anwar (his daughter).
“What is his motive coming to Negeri Sembilan as he is an outsider? He is from Penang.
“I thought the change in government was already over after the recent general election. Why is this by-election necessary?
“I just wanted to know if he means all that he has been saying,” said the voter, who insisted on remaining anonymous.
Asked about Anwar’s response to her, the voter said: “He said he will deliver whatever that was promised.”
The voter said she was confused and frustrated over this by-election.
“Since I was young, my siblings and I have been told to vote for Umno. We have supported it for generations.
“But suddenly the government is no longer run by Barisan Nasional.”
Today, Port Dickson voters will determine who will be their new MP. Anwar faces six other contenders for the seat.
