I’m no traitor, Danyal says it again

Former Port Dickson MP Danyal Balagopal Abdullah.
PORT DICKSON: Former Port Dickson MP Danyal Balagopal Abdullah, who vacated his seat for PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim, yesterday reiterated that he was not a traitor.
He said he had made the move so that Port Dickson could make further advancements which would benefit the people as Anwar would be appointed as the eighth prime minister.
“I served the Malaysian Armed Forces for about 40 years, and ‘willing to sacrifice’ was our motto.
“I am not like the others… If I was a traitor, I would give way and disappear. Instead, I am still here to take care of this service centre,” he said in an interview with Bernama and TV3.
The former Olympic Council of Malaysia vice-president and chef de mission at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, said he had made the sacrifice so that the Port Dickson community could enjoy greater benefits. He added that there was no reason for them to be angry with him.
He said he was confident that through his partnership with Anwar, brighter days lay ahead for Port Dickson.
Danyal vacated the seat on Sept 12 to allow Anwar to contest in a bid to return to Parliament.
Polling will take place tomorrow.
The Port Dickson parliamentary constituency has 75,770 registered voters comprising 43% Malays, 33% Chinese and 22% Indians. Other races make up the last 2%. -FMT
