PORT DICKSON: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad received a thunderous welcome as he made his first appearance in Pakatan Harapan’s mega-ceramah here on Monday (Oct 8).
Dr Mahathir arrived at 10.10pm, while Pakatan candidate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived at 9.25pm.
Both their arrivals were greeted by cheers of “reformasi” and vuvuzela horns.
Other prominent politicians such as PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng, and Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu, were also present.
Despite the heavy downpour, thousands of locals flocked the Port Dickson Waterfront area eager to see Dr Mahathir and Anwar sharing the same stage after decades.

Pakatan supporters, on the other hand, were seen donning red-coloured T-shirts.
The mood was joyous as vuvuzela horns and cries of “reformasi” dominated the atmosphere.
Prior to Dr Mahathir’s arrival, other prominent Pakatan leaders including Fahmi Fadzil, Dr Mohd Hatta Md Ramli, Kapar MP Abdullah Sani and others took the stage and gave speeches, which received a rousing response from its supporters.
Security was tight around the vicinity, as scores of uniformed and plain-clothes police officers combed the entire area, hours before the mega ceramah begin to eliminate any potential threats.
The Port Dickson by-election will take place on Oct 13, which will see a seven-cornered fight between Pakatan, PAS, and five other independent candidates.
