Najib asks Bersih: So, did you file a report against PKR as well?

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak has questioned electoral reform movement Bersih if it had lodged a police report against PKR for the party’s election offences during the Sungai Kandis by-election.
News broke yesterday that police will soon question Najib himself for his Facebook post, published on the polling day of the by-election.
Bersih had previously lodged a report saying that Najib’s posting on Aug 4 - which called on the voters to remove Pakatan Harapan from the Selangor state seat - was constituted as campaigning, thereby making it an election offence.
Saying he was ready to cooperate with the police, the former prime minister questioned if PKR had also been subject to the same treatment for the party’s alleged election offences.
“I want to know if Bersih had made similar police reports against PKR and its Sungai Kandis by-election candidate (Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni) - who Bersih itself alleged had committed serious election offences during the by-election.
“This presents a good opportunity to the NGO and the government to demonstrate that they act fairly and are not biased,” Najib said in his Facebook posting last night.
He included a screenshot of an article quoting the NGO saying it would “look into” an incident where Mohd Zawawi appeared to have campaigned in a primary school that had also been a polling station.
At the time, Mohd Zawawi had denied his actions constituted campaigning and claimed he had merely officiated a fun run to foster better ties in the community.
Najib also referred to an earlier press statement from BN’s Sungai Kandis candidate - Lokman Noor Adam - that had urged Bersih to explain why it had not lodged a police report against PKR for committing election offences.
Malaysiakini has contacted Bersih for its response.
Mohd Zawawi won the Sungai Kandis by-election with a 5,842 majority, defeating Lokman and independent candidate K Murthy. - Mkini

  1. Deal with your matter first and PKR later if Bersih wish to.
